With Samsung’s brand new Galaxy S3
already on the shelves in London and hitting the streets of other
countries over the coming weeks, it’s clear that the manufacturer have
their sights set on the mobile market. With this in mind, lots of us are
wondering whether the new phone can stand against the other big seller
on the market: Apple’s iPhone 4S. There are a few key differences
between these devices, and the decision in the end may fall to personal
preference, but for the sake of argument let’s take a look at how these
two smartphones compare.

Firmware / OS
The new Galaxy S3 runs on Android 4.0 with a custom version of TouchWiz built-in. This is where the phone really comes down to personal taste, because some people simply don’t take to the TouchWiz interface. There are those that claim that this version of the Android OS is a little too ‘kiddy’ with its bright vivid colours and simplistic user interface. For others, though, this is where the phone’s biggest strength lies. The iPhone 4S on the other hand features Apple’s own iOS 5+, which is always being updated. Because iOS is strictly controlled by Apple, you’ll always know that the phone will run at its best.
Actually deciding on a bottom line here is a little bit difficult. It’s like choosing between Anrdoid or iOS: there will always be arguments for both. One thing is for sure, Samsung have created a real contender for the iPhone 4S – and that’s saying a lot. For a long time, Apple’s grip of the smartphone market has been iron clad, but the Galaxy S3 makes several strides forward for Android and Samsung themselves. It’d be fair to say that if you’re a fan of the Android OS and you’re looking to upgrade your handset, the S3 is a great decision and a great phone. On the other hand, if you’re already an Apple iPhone 4S user and you’re happy with it you won’t see anything on the Samsung handset that makes you reach for your wallet.

Good news for every smartphone user.
Screen size and form factor
The first thing you’ll notice about the Samsung Galaxy S III is that
it’s rather large in comparison to other smartphones. We’re not talking
about Galaxy Note large, but still noticeably bigger than its peers. For
comparison, the S3 boasts a 4.8 inch SOLED screen. That’s compared to
the smaller, but no less good looking, 3.5 inch screen on the iPhone 4S.
It’s worth noting that Apple’s poster child still has a higher pixel
density with its Retina Display. As for form factor, the Galaxy S3 is
actually thinner than the 4S – effectively removing the ‘world’s
thinnest smartphone’ claim from Apple’s arsenal.
Processor speed
The Samsung Galaxy S3
is now the world’s fastest smartphone in terms of actual horsepower.
With its quad-core 1.5GHz processor, it literally blows most of its
peers away. Now, this isn’t to say that the processor is automatically
the best, because the software that runs on it does have a part to play
in terms of usability – but on paper it’s certainly the fastest. As for
Apple’s iPhone 4S, the A5 chip is a dual-core processor that clocks in
at around 700GHz – half the speed of the new Galaxy. Again, Apple’s
phone may seem less powerful, but its software is highly optimised in
that iOS is a closed firmware. Android, on the other hand, is vulnerable
to poor third party software clogging up users’ phones.Firmware / OS

Software
Samsung have made the decision to compete directly with the iPhone 4S
by including their own version of Apple’s Siri. The app, known as ‘S
Voice’, is an almost direct imitation of Siri, and gives users voice
control over almost every function of the phone. The app works well and
does as good a job as Siri does on the 4S. The biggest question here
will be how much this voice control matters to you: are you a fan of
voice controlled software, or do you think it’s a gimmick? If you’re in
the latter camp, these two pieces of software won’t make any difference
to your smartphone decision making.
Price
Samsung Galaxy S 3 price in U.K. is unveiled for the first time in
London and it will be available from 29 may in Europe and some other
countries at a price of 549.99 GBP including VAT ( Around 890 USD ) and
in India around Rs 40,000 where iPhone 4S price of 16 GB variant is
Rs 44,450/- which too expensive then the S 3 .Actually deciding on a bottom line here is a little bit difficult. It’s like choosing between Anrdoid or iOS: there will always be arguments for both.
