Your content is the most important part of your online business. The content that you write represents who you are as a person or a business. So, what’s the secret to getting people back on your site over and over? Isn’t it obvious? Spend more time writing compelling content and you will see a boost in traffic.
Website trafficThe Headline of the blog post
Your headline is the most important part of your page. I stress this point often, and with good reason. A good headline can benefit your page in many different ways. For example, I recently wrote a blog post entitled “The Myth Behind Affiliate Marketing And Why Your Doing It Wrong” which has received 23 retweets in the last 24 hours. Every time a person retweets my post the headline – or title – shows up on Twitter. This attracts targeted traffic to my blog because it is “attention grabbing.”
Another example is the title of this post – “Want More Traffic? Write Compelling Content.” I chose this title because it is short and punchy. Who doesn’t want more traffic to their site? This title should grab the attention the reader and force them to read on. The headline is important, now let’s move on.
Writing Compelling Content
Let’s face it, nobody cares about your blog stats – or that your dog is finally potty trained. People care about things that effect them. “What’s in it for me?” Should be a question that runs through your mind when you reread your post. Pretend to be a reader and see how they will benefit from what you are trying to say.
Give your readers amazing content. Kim Roach did a case study of how one article brought her 7,640 visitors to her site. She spent 4 days writing and compiling a list of “21 Untapped Traffic Sources.” The reason she received so much traffic is because her content had so much value to the reader.

Does your content bring value to the reader? If so, then how can you improve on that value? When you provide compelling content to your readers they will take care of the rest for you. Traffic is a byproduct of your content. I’ll leave you with one last thought: “Is it better to promote your own content, or to have somebody else promote it for you?”
